Egg Run 2014

A Five Grand Day Out!

Yup – we did it!  We beaten all previous years, and collected over £5,000 with the 2014 Moorlanders MCC Egg Run.

This is a great achievement by all involved, not only by the teamwork of our Club members, but with the able-bodied support of our friends in the Widows Sons South West.  By involving us in their 24 hour Cold Water Challenge, we ensured that we exceeded our £5,000 target, as well as raising £150 for their chosen charity, Combat Stress.
Despite the forecast, and the heavy rain, a stream of hundreds of motorcycles flowed through North Cornwall on the Moorlanders Egg Run this Easter Sunday.

Over £4,000 was raised on the day for local children’s charities by this, probably the original and biggest Cornish Egg Run, held by Moorlanders MCC in association with Widows Sons South West.  The final amount is yet to be announced, as collection continues, with an anticipated grand total of £5,000 – a new Club record.

Also braving the weather, residents of Camelford lined their high street to cheer the bikers on their way after they left Davidstow Airfield on a 60 mile journey firstly to the north coast, then down to Wadebridge, on to Bodmin, through St Neot and ending at Bowden Derra care home.

There they were treated to warm and dry hospitality, enjoying a free burger for their valiant effort, and to officially open the specialised wheelchair swing that last year’s Egg Run helped finance.

“We’d like to thank our corporate sponsors and the businesses of Camelford, Wadebridge, Launceston and St Austell for donating raffle prizes,” said Richard ‘Magpie’ Hallett, Vice Chairman, “and to the 500 bikers that turned out on the day.”

Awards and trophies were presented to the best of the bikes on the day, and to Spriggans MCC for Best Club Turnout.

A Moorlander is for life, not just for Easter. We’re now looking forward to joining other charity rides and motorcycling events all year round.

We were grateful to have been supported by Cornwall Conveniences, who provided portable toilets up on the Airfield on the day 🙂

Many thanks also to Hobby Mounts, GoPro specialists for their support for our Egg Run, kitting our lead bike out with cameras and mounts.

The Egg Run would not be the success it is without the kind support we receive from local business and organsiations.

Thank you to all those who are supporting our 2013 Egg Run.
